Since I started this website, I will start things off with some background information about my own interests in racquetball. In high school and college, I played tennis. My first introduction to an indoor court game came at the University of Maryland, where I took handball lessons. After college, I attended Rockefeller University in New York for graduate school. We had two squash courts on campus, so I learned to play squash. I enjoyed that very much.

Eventually I moved to Massachusetts to finish my graduate course work. I found that few people had heard of squash up here, outside of places like Harvard and MIT. However, this was the middle of the big racquetball boom that occurred in the early 1980s. So I started playing racquetball in 1983 -- 20 years ago.

In the time since then, I've been a member at Northmeadow (Tewksbury), Executive Racquet & Fitness (Woburn, the Colonial Hilton (now the Sheraton),  Waverly Oaks, Healthtrax (now Beverly Fitness), and Route One Racquet & Fitness. The Executive Racquet & Fitness Club in Woburn is no longer there, and the Colonial Hilton has taken out their racquetball courts. Other clubs have slowly slimmed down the number of courts until most now have only three or four.

My interest in racquetball has gone up and down over the years. Some years I simply didn't have the time or motivation to play. Still, I find that I always come back to racquetball, and I find that my interest has grown as I've played more. Currently my interest is at an all-time high.

I think that I have several goals with respect to racquetball. I tremendously enjoy the competition, and I enjoy the game itself. I also find that I feel much better when I play. I have lately also started working out on the machines at the club, in hopes of building up my arm and leg muscles. I've done this in the past, and I find that it always helps my game.

I think it would be a lot of fun if we could organize either an inter-club tournament, or possibly even an inter-club league. One thing I like about playing in the league is that I get to play a lot of different people. I also remember playing some extremely talented players at some of the other clubs, and it would be fun to play some of these people again. I'm not sure about the best format, but it's something worth thinking about.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this website, and find it useful. I don't have a "master plan" for it -- I'm just adding things as I think of them. So if you have any suggestions for this site, please send them to jesse@flowresearch.com. - Jesse Yoder
